Report of Study Progress

  • Ground investigation fieldwork was completed in 2007.
     
  • Preliminary Assessment on Natural Terrain for relict and recent landslide incidents was completed in 2008.
     
  • Different levels of groundwater within the study area were assessed in 2007.
     
  • Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) was completed in 2008. TIA result shows that there will be no adverse impact on the adjacent road network both during construction and operation of the Landfill Extensions. Nim Wan Road, Lung Kwu Tan Road and Lung Mun Road have sufficient capacity to carry the traffic flows to Year 2034.
     
  • Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment was completed in 2008.
     
  • Drainage Impact Assessment and Sewerage Impact Assessment were conducted in 2008.
     
  • Topographical Survey and Tree Survey were completed in 2008.
     
  • Landfill Gas Impact Assessment was completed in 2008.
     
  • 5 board layout options were formed. A Value Management Workshop was conducted in June 2008 to evaluate the options.
     
  • The preferred layout was endorsed by Steering Group in 2008.
     
  • A Risk Management Workshop was held in October 2008.
     
  • Sustainability Assessment was completed in 2009.
     
  • Public Inspection of EIA Report was conducted from 25 Aug 2009 to 23 Sept 2009.
     
  • ACE EIA Subcommittee Meeting and ACE Meeting were held on 19 Oct 2009 and 9 Nov 2009 respectively.
     
  • EIA Report was approved with conditions by the Director of Environmental Protection on 20 Nov 2009.
     
  • The Study was completed in 2010.
