Hong Kong Productivity Council - Environmental Management Division
The
Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation
established by statute in 1967 to promote increased productivity
and the use of more efficient methods throughout Hong Kong's business
sectors. HKPC's Environmental Management Division (EMD) was set
up in 1980 to assist business sectors in pollution prevention and
environmental management. At present, EMD has approximately 80 highly
trained, skilled consultants and staff to provide consultancy services
including air, water and noise pollution prevention and abatement;
waste management and recycling; energy management; cleaner production
technology development; environmental impact assessment studies;
environmental auditing and monitoring; environmental management
system development and environmental reporting. In addition, comprehensive
environmental training and laboratory analytical services are provided.
EMD's
Service
For Air Pollution Control:

oil
mist control services for restaurants;

indoor
air quality surveys, measurement and control;

of air pollution control systems, supervision of installation
and commissioning;

testing of chimney stacks, incinerators and air pollution control

Water Pollution Control:

and analysis of sludge, marine, river, water and wastewater

Noise Pollution Control:

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and Environmental Monitoring
and Audit (EM&A):

in achieving compliance to conditions specified in Environmental
Permit; and

and execution of EM&A programme as well as independent checking
of EM&A programme.

Environmental Management System (EMS):

environmental reviews in preparation for EMS development, including
gap analyses, identification of environmental aspects and legal
requirements;

EMS
design and development;
|
|
c) |
assistance
in EMS implementation through provision of training and technical
advice; and
|
|
d) |
EMS
audit in preparation for ISO 14001 certification.

Environmental Reporting :
|
a) |
report
scoping to assess environmental performance and identify performance
indicators & improvement areas;

verification and to prepare either Validation or Opinion Statements
for environmental reports; and

full
consultancy support in report preparation.

EMD has a well-equipped environmental laboratory which can handle
a wide range of analytical services including air pollutant analysis,
water, wastewater, sediment and sludge, and noise measurements. The
laboratory is accredited under the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation
Scheme (HOKLAS) in the field of environmental testing.
EMD disseminates information and facilitates environmental technology
transfer through training programmes, seminars, conferences, study
missions and exhibitions. Training topics cover: environmental audit;
environmental impact assessment; ISO 14001 environmental management
system; environmental reporting; and pollution control and prevention
methods and technology. |
