Stabilisation Works at Tai Hang & the Kennedy Town, Hong Kong
These are two slope stabilisation works projects, respectively at Lai Tak Tsuen at Tai Hang, and Kwun Lung Lau, Kennedy Town.

Concern
The two projects were close to residential premises. In the absence of proper dust prevention measures, the fugitive dust could impact the air quality and affect the residents in the 2 estates.
The
slope works was very close to the residential buildings of Kwun Lung Lau
Dust emission from the slope works caused serious air pollution problems to nearby residents
Measures
Adopted
Restriction
- The number of drilling rigs on slope was reduced.
Dust
Cover - The top, the front and one of the two sides of the drilling
area were covered. Dusty materials were stored in bags.
Watering
- Water was sprayed continuously to wet the dust particles during the
drilling operation.
The drilling area of the slope works at Kwun Lung Lau was enclosed by impervious sheeting

With the adoption of these measures on-site, the dust emissions were effectively kept within the working area.
