Thirty-five EPD convictions in October

Thirty-five convictions were recorded last month (October) breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.

Fifteen of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, four were under the Noise Control Ordinance, 14 were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance and two were under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.

The heaviest fine in October was $40,000 in each count, assessed against a company that carried out notifiable work not in accordance with the Construction Dust Regulation for two counts.
