Following the Clean Shorelines Comics Competition held earlier this year, the WG organised a Clean Shorelines Video Filming Competition from October to December 2014 to further promote the message of keeping our shorelines clean.
Secondary students, post-secondary students and the public were
invited to create a 90-second video with the theme of the WG
activities in 2014 as follows –
"Protect our coast, Leave
no trace"
A factsheet was prepared to furnish participants with information on the work of the WG and marine refuse to facilitate their creation of the video. Details of the competition could be found in the Prospectus. Additionally, presentation materials were prepared by the Ocean Park and Mr C K Liu (Artist, Lecturer) to share on filming techniques and aesthetics, and provide information on marine refuse and marine ecology for participants’ reference.
The competition was closed on 10 December 2014. Over 40 entries were received. Winners of each Section were selected by the adjudicating panel which comprised representatives of members of the WG and the Ocean Park. The competition also had the “Most Popular Video Online” and “Smart Voter” awards to encourage public participation in an online voting campaign. The participating videos of the Secondary School Section were uploaded onto the Youth.gov.hk Facebook Fan page (http://www.facebook.com/youthgovhk) for public voting. The video with the highest number of votes would receive an award. The 10th, 20th…. (multiples of 10) up to the 150th voter would be awarded. The awardees were invited to attend the award ceremony to be held at Ocean Park on 31 January 2015 pm.
