Environmental Guidance Note for Sewage Pumping Stations which is not a Designated Project

2. Coverage of this Guidance Note

2.1    This GN is only applicable for a sewage pumping station, which is NOT a DP under the EIAO. For all DPs, statutory procedures under the EIAO should be complied with.

 

[Note:

According to the Schedule 2 Part I Item F.3 of the EIAO, a sewage pumping station is a DP when it meets one of the following criteria: -

    (a)  With an installed capacity of more than 300,000 m3 per day; or

    (b)  With an installed capacity of more than 2,000 m3 per day and a boundary of which is less than 150 m from an existing or planned -

        (i)    residential area;

        (ii)    place of worship;

        (iii)    educational institution;

        (iv)    health care institution;

        (v)    site of special scientific interest;

        (vi)    site of cultural heritage;

        (vii)    bathing beach;

        (viii)    marine park or marine reserve;

        (ix)    fish culture zone; or

        (x)    seawater intake point.

If a sewage pumping station falls partly or wholly within any of the sensitive areas as stated in Schedule 2 Part I Item Q.1 of the EIAO, it is also a DP. The sensitive areas include existing or gazetted proposed country park or special area, conservation area, existing or gazetted proposed Marine Park or marine reserve, site of cultural heritage and site of special scientific interest.]
