Description of the CWTC

Oil/Water Separation

The oil/water separation system is a treatment train for oil/water mixtures. The system is comprised of tanks and various physical treatment systems. The oil/water mixture is fed first into bulk tanks where the oil separates out by gravity. An American Petroleum Institution (API) separator and Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit further recover entrained oils in the aqueous phase. The water is further treated until it is ready for discharge into the public foul sewer. Any solid residue is sent to the incinerator or the stabilisation unit depending on its chemical make-up.
