Description of the CWTC

Waste Profile Analysis

To determine the appropriate treatment method, a sample from each batch of chemical waste is characterised by chemical analysis. The waste profile characterisation falls into a range of categories such as acids, alkalis, spent etchants (ammoniacal), spent etchants (non-ammoniacal), toxic metals and other metallic solutions, halogenated and non-halogenated and flammable solvents, waste oil and others (cyanide, pesticide, PCB containing wastes etc.). Waste oil is mainly MARPOL (MARine POLlution) Annex I waste, which arises from ships using Hong Kong's port facilities. Each category of waste, is appropriately treated at the CWTC.
