Guidelines on "Slogan and Logo Design Competitions to Encourage the Use of Rechargeable Batteries"

Objectives:

-    to promote awareness of students and the general public to use rechargeable batteries;

-    to encourage students and the general public to adopt a good habit to reduce the use of primary batteries; and

-    to echo Government's initiative in waste reduction.

Slogan Competition:

The slogan competition is open to all students of primary schools. The length of the slogan is restricted to within 30 characters for Chinese and 30 words for English version. Each primary school student shall only submit one entry via the school head or directly. Each submission should be in the form of landscape A4 paper (29.7 cm x 21 cm) with the font size of 60.

Logo Design Competition:

The logo design competition is divided into Secondary School Group and Public Group. Each participant shall only participate in one out of the two groups and shall only submit one entry for the competition. Each submission should be in the form of a landscape drawing paper of A4 size (29.7 cm x 21 cm). For Secondary School Group, student can submit the entry via the school head or directly. Participants of the Public Group shall submit the entry directly.

Judging Criteria:

                Slogan Competition

                -    Relevancy to the concept of "Replacing Primary Batteries with the Rechargeable Batteries" (50%)

                -    Creativity (50%)

                Logo Design Competition

                -    Relevancy to the concept of "Replacing Primary Batteries with the Rechargeable Batteries" (40%)

                -    Creativity (30%)

                -    Aesthetic / Artistic presentation (30%)

Awards:

A champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and merit awards for each group. The best participating secondary school and primary school will also be awarded.

 

Submission of Entries:

All submissions should be submitted by post or by hand during office hours to: Community Relations Unit, Environmental Protection Department, 2/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, not later than 27 October 2003 (Monday). Please indicate the Competition and Group on the envelope. The name, Hong Kong Identity Card number, mailing address, contact telephone number and school name (for schools groups only) of the participant should be written at the back of the entry. If the entries are to be submitted via school heads, please enclose the duly completed application forms together with the entries. Please do not send the entries by fax.

 

Announcement and Presentation of Awards:

Award Presentation Ceremony will be held on 15 November 2003 (Saturday). (All winners will be informed individually)

 

Rules:

  1. All submitted entries will not be returned.
  2. Entries should be original and should not be issued or published or awarded in other competitions before.
  3. Environmental Protection Department and Environmental Campaign Committee have the right to publish, exhibit and publicize the awarded entries in any media.
  4. The copyright of all submissions will be vested with the organizers.
  5. The judging panel members chosen by the organizers have the final decision on the results of the competitions.
