 4. Objectives
  The Project is :
(a) to provide youths with international exposure and an opportunity to improve their
     communication skills in English;
(b) to promote environmental protection; and
(c) to build up self-confidence and global vision for world class citizens of the future.
 
 5. Target
  Form 4-7 students.
 
 6. Competition
  (a) Each applicant shall submit an essay focused on Green Life Style. The applicant
     can focus on only one aspect in the Green Life Style such as Living; Clothes;
     Transportation; Food, etc.
(b) The essay shall be of not more than 1000 English words (without using any photos
     or graphic designs) submitted in WORD format to ye08outbound@gmail.com or by
     post in a floppy disk to Lions College, 90 Hing Shing Road, Kwai Fong, Kwai
     Chung, New Territories, Hong Kong before 5:00 pm on Saturday, 5th January 2008.
(c) Please extract key sentences from the essay highlighting the main theme/idea and
     insert them at the bottom of the last page of the essay.
(d) Short-listed applicants shall attend an interview to make oral presentation of their
     essays on or about Saturday, 26th January 2008.
(e) Finalists will be required to make a power-point presentation on a selected
     environmental topic in the Award Presentation Ceremony on Saturday, 1st March
     2008.
(f)  Results will be published in Ming Pao in March 2008.
(g) The decisions of the Organizers are final.
 
 7. Prizes
  1st – 3rd   : Full Exchange Scholarship to a city in North America, Europe or Australia decided by the organizer in consultation with the selected scholar with return air ticket included.
4th – 5th   : Full Exchange Scholarship to Japan Exchange with return air ticket included.
6th – 10th : Full Exchange Scholarship to Taipei or Shanghai Exchange with return air ticket included. 

An exchange scholarship will be forfeited if an exchange scholar cannot participate in an exchange programme in 2008.  In exceptional cases, the Organizers may allow an extension for 1 year.

11th – 50th  :    
(a)  Certificates of Achievement Certificate holders will be endorsed to participate
      at their own costs in any Lions international youth exchange held in about 100
      cities worldwide. Priority will be given to them if an international exchange
      camp is held in Hong Kong.  Acceptance to an exchange overseas is subject to
      final approval of the organizer overseas.
(b)  $100 Satayking Restaurants cash coupon from Satay King (Holdings) Co.

(c)  Mastering NextOffice 9 Self Paced Training Course
 
 8. Costs
  Each exchange will include a camp with family hosting before and/or after camp. Qualified students will be provided free meal and board during the exchange. Full Exchange Scholarship will, in addition, cover camp registration fee, if any, and return air ticket. Students will bear their other personal expenses for e.g. travel insurance, snacks, souvenirs, personal entertainment, etc.
 
 9. Duties of Exchange Scholars and Schools
  a. An exchange scholar shall attend briefings on exchange.
b. An exchange scholar shall provide to the Organizers and his school a report on his
    exchange within one month after his return.
c. The school of an exchange scholar shall provide an opportunity to the scholar to
    make a public presentation of his prize-winning essay and another opportunity to
    present his post-exchange report.
d. An exchange scholar shall help the Organizers give briefings to future exchange
    scholars
 
 10. Privacy Policy and Copyright
  The information collected in the Registration Form is for the sole use by the Organizers in the organization of the youth exchange and ancillary programmes. Request for access to and correction of the information provided can be made to the Lions Clubs District Youth Exchange Chairman. The Organizers have the unrestricted right to copy and reproduce in all media and format as they think fit all materials created by the Applicants for this Competition.
