17 pollution convictions in July
Seventeen convictions were recorded last month (July) for breaches of anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Seven of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, four under the Noise Control Ordinance, four under the Waste Disposal Ordinance and two under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.
The heaviest fine in July was $18,000, assessed against a company used powered mechanical equipment not in accordance with permit conditions.
