Thirty-six convictions in July

Thirty-six convictions were recorded last month (July) for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.

Sixteen of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, seven under the Noise Control Ordinance, 11 under the Waste Disposal Ordinance and two under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.

The heaviest fine in July was $40,000, assessed against a company that imported controlled waste without a permit.
