4. Getting to Know your EIA Report

Virtual Tutorial

  1. Can you show me the approach in quantifying the noise impacts?
  2. How can I quantify the air quality impact using models?
  3. Are there different models for quantifying the water quality impacts?
  4. I want to know more about the approach and methodology for assessing the ecological impacts.
  5. I think the predictive techniques used in the EIA are too technical for me. Instead, I am interested to know more about the practical mitigation measures for various environmental impacts.

Annex 5 and Annex 13 of the EIAO-TM list down the criteria and guidelines respectively for noise assessment.

In a nutshell, a generic approach in a noise assessment is in the sequence:

  • Identify noise sources
  • Identify noise sensitive receivers
  • Quantify noise impacts (modelling or measurement)
  • Mitigation measures
  • Consideration of residual impacts

EPD has produced an Educational Package on Environmental Noise and is available on the EPD website. Please click here to learn more about noise assessment.
