推廣使用電動車輛
Promotion of Electric Vehicles
財政司司長在今年的財政預算案中宣布一系列推廣在本港使用電動車輛的措施，包括延長豁免電動車輛的首次登記稅，為期五年，直至2014年3月底；推廣設立車輛電池充電設施；以及成立一個由他領導的督導委員會，就有關推廣的策略和具體措施作出建議。在公佈財政預算案後，政府在2009年2月26日與三菱汽車及其在港的代理環宇汽車有限公司簽署一項有關試行新一代電動車輛(iMiEV)的諒解備忘錄。有關試驗最快將在2009年5月開始，詳情請參閱新聞稿。
The Financial Secretary announced in this year's Budget Speech a host of measures to promote the use of electric vehicles in Hong Kong, including extending the waiver of First Registration Tax on electric vehicles for five years till end March 2014, promoting the setting up of vehicle battery charging facilities, and setting up a steering committee to be chaired by him to make recommendations on strategy and specific measures on their promotion. Following the Budget Speech, the Government entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and its authorised dealer in Hong Kong, Universal Cars Ltd. on 26 February 2009, to test a new type of electric vehicle – the Mitsubishi innovative electric vehicle (iMiEV). 建築物能源效益資助計劃
Buildings Energy Efficiency Funding Schemes
我們在「環境及自然保育基金」下分別預留了1.5億元及3億元，資助大廈業主進行能源及二氧化碳排放綜合審計及能源效益項目。資助計劃將會於本年四月初正式開始接受申請。
We have reserved $150 million and $300 million under the Environment and Conservation Fund to subsidize building owners to conduct energy-cum-carbon audits and energy efficient projects respectively. The schemes will commence receiving applications in early April 2009. |

可持續發展基金 (基金) 第六輪資助申請結果
Result of the Sixth Round of Applications to the Sustainable Development Fund (The Fund)
基金共撥款七百九十萬元資助七個項目，以促進市民大眾對可持續發展概念的認知和實踐。七個獲批項目當中，四個為社區項目，參加者來自社區的不同界別，兩項是學校為本的項目，旨在提高學生對企業可持續發展的意識及可持續食用海鮮﹔另一項則是設計高等教育的可持續發展教學單元。有關獲批資助項目的詳情，可瀏覽此網頁。
A total of $7.9 million was granted by the Fund to seven projects to promote public awareness and adoption of principles of sustainable development (SD). Among the seven approved projects, four are community projects involving participation from different sectors of the community; two are school-based projects to raise students’ awareness of corporate sustainability and sustainable seafood consumption; and the other is for designing and developing teaching modules on SD for tertiary education. 建議設立香港地質公園
Proposal to set up a Geopark in Hong Kong
香港有豐富的地貌資源，並具學術及旅遊價值。政府正籌備設立香港地質公園，並於年底申報為國家級地質公園。
Hong Kong boasts rich geological resources of academic and tourism value. We are preparing to set up a geopark in Hong Kong, and submit application by end 2009 to become a national geopark. |

可持續發展學校獎勵計劃頒獎典禮
The Sustainable Development School Award Programme Prize Presentation Ceremony
頒獎典禮已於本年二月廿一日圓滿結束。共有三十三間學校獲獎，其中十一間得金獎，十二間得銀獎，十間得銅獎。我們估計約有三萬二千名學生、老師、家長和社區人士參與該計劃。
The Ceremony was held on 21 February 2009. 33 schools were qualified for the Awards - 11 for Gold Awards, 12 for Silver and 10 for Bronze and we estimate that around 32,000 students as well as teachers, parents and members of the community have been involved. |

廢物源頭分類‧至叻家庭大比拼２００８
Source Separation of Waste - Model Family Competition 2008
環保署舉辦了「廢物源頭分類‧至叻家庭大比拼2008」，讓市民分享在家中實行廢物源頭分類和減少廢物的心得，藉此選出模範家庭，作為全港家庭的借鏡。頒獎典禮已於二零零九年一月十日舉行，以表揚優秀的參賽家庭。
The EPD has organized the "Source Separation of Waste - Model Family Competition 2008" to encourage families to share their experience in source separation and waste reduction. Model families were selected for others families in Hong Kong to follow their good practice. The award ceremony was held on 10 January 2009 to commend the outstanding participating families. |

立法會完成審議塑膠購物袋規例
Legislative Council completed vetting of plastic shopping bag regulation
立法會成立的小組委員會已完成《產品環保責任(塑膠購物袋)規例》的審議。若《規例》在四月獲立法會正式批准，塑膠購物袋環保徵費計劃可望在二零零九年七月實施。
A Subcommittee formed by the LegCo has completed the vetting of the Product Eco-responsibility (Plastic Shopping Bags) Regulation. Subject to the formal approval of the Regulation by the LegCo in April, it is envisaged that the environmental levy scheme would be implemented in July 2009. |

啟德發展區區域供冷系統
District Cooling System at Kai Tak Development
區域供冷系統是較具能源效益的空調系統。它與傳統氣冷式空調系統，以及獨立使用冷卻塔的水冷式空調系統比較，可分別節省約35%及20%的用電量。立法會環境事務委員會於2008年12月15日的會議，對政府計劃於啟德發展區設立區域供冷系統表示支持。
A District Cooling System (DCS) is an energy-efficient air-conditioning system which consumes 35% and 20% less electricity as compared with traditional air-cooled air-conditioning systems and individual water-cooled air-conditioning systems using cooling towers respectively. At its meeting on 15 December 2008, the Legislative Council Panel on Environmental Affairs supported our plan to implement a DCS at Kai Tak Development. |
