    Quieter Construction Methods

Some advanced quieter construction methods have been established. Performance and practicability of the equipment has been studied and approved on different construction sites in Hong Kong.

The data show that the sound pressure level of noise generated using quieter equipment and methods is significantly lower than that of using traditional equipment and methods

Quieter Construction Methods

Steel-reinforced polyethylene strips

The Spiral Wound Rehabilitation Technology (SPRTMPE) is considered to be one of the quieter construction methods, compared to the traditional "open, cut and replace" method.

Ultra-violet (UV) light train

Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) Lining with Enhanced Curing Technology is considered to be one of the quieter construction methods, compared to the conventional "open, cut and replace" method.

Liner is pulled into the host pipe

Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) Lining is considered to be one of the quieter construction methods, compared to the traditional "open, cut and replace" method.

Diamond Blade Wall Saw

Because of the special design, this kind of diamond blade wall saw can have sound pressure level lower than the typical one at about 10dB(A).

Non-Explosive Chemical Expansion Agent

Unlike explosive chemicals or expansive compounds, soundless chemical demolition agents do not produce vibrations, and hence, they are completely quiet and safe to use.

Hydraulic Crusher for Concrete Breaking

Use of hydraulic concrete crusher is much quieter than using hydraulic breaker in demolition project.

Silent Piling by Press-in Method

Silent Piling by Press-in Method : Traditional massive augering and piling machines for sheet piling work at hard ground condition would create significant noise and vibration impacts to neighbours.

Tunnel Boring Machine

Unlike cut and cover method,  construction work of using tunnel boring machine takes place mainly underground, which signaficantly reduce noise, dust and disruption to nearby NSRs.

Quieter Type Wire Saw or Diamond Wire Saw

Wire-sawing is a flexible sawing technique that can be applied under various situations with excellent cutting performance.

High Pressure Water Jetting

High pressure water jetting is a concrete removal technique mainly to remove deteriorated concrete, and tiles.

Using Prefabricated Structure to Replace In-situ Construction

The use of precasting and prefabrication technology to replace the in-situ construction not only reduces air pollution but has also reduced the amount of mechanical equipment used on site and therefore the cumulative noise impact.

Quieter type Blade Saw

The Quieter Type Blade saw with higher speed and smoother balde reduces the excitation of vibration and hence the propagation of sound.

Bursting System

Bursting system can be used for concrete breaking to replace traditional handheld percussive breakers.

Hand-held Concrete Crusher

Less vibration and impulsive noise generated by hand-held concrete crusher than jackhammer.
